Woodgate Beach, is situated about 4 hours drive north from Brisbane and 1/2 an hour south from Bundaberg. To get to it from the bruce Highway, one turns off at the southern entrance to Childers.
"Woodgate" as it is known by the locals is nestled right on a calm ocean beach at the northern extreme of Hervey Bay. It still retains the charm of a quiet little fishing villiage, with absolutely no high rise - yet and limited shopping facilities (for those so inclined)
It does however offer some superb fishing options for the kayak angler, - From the Burrum River 5 klms to the south to Theodolite Creek, 3 klms to the north and off-shore (about 300m) at the artificial reef. All the usual tropical and sub-tropical species are available plus a respectable number of some more southerly species.
Accommodation ranges from camping, caravning and cabins in the very nice and spotlessly clean Woodgate Beach Tourist Park (Ph No. 07 41268802) to private homes and flats that are readily available through any of the local real estate agents. Most are just across the very quiet main street from the very safe beach.
Main Beach.
