- Nemadactylus douglasii
Also known as Silver Morwong, Blue Morwong, Rubberlip Morwong, Mowie, Sea Bream. Typical size caught is 0.9kg to 2.5kg but will grow to over 6kg.
Found in Temperate waters from Southern Queensland to North Eastern Tasmania
Similar technique to Snapper, any bait on a heavy weighted line. The skill is more in finding a school. Look for a gravel or broken reef in 30-200 metres of water, near pinnacles or drop-offs.
Morwong should be skinned and filleted prior to cooking to help remove the iodine taint that can be present.
