Overview[]

Mahi Mahi are commonly known as Dolphin Fish, Dollies or Dorado are a pelagic, schooling fish which follow the warm currents along the Northern Coast of Australia. This species school in enourmous numbers around Fish Agrgregating Devices (FAD's), large areas of froth (created by wind and chop) and flotsam/jetsam; this means they are an iconic target for anglers who are willing to venture offshore.

They are brightly couloured, with colours ranging from bright mixes of blue, green and yellow; these colours quickly degrade when the fish is killed.

They usually attain a weight of 18kg, and a length of +2m, though specimens greater than 18kg are regarded as an exceptional fish.
