Achoerodus viridis

Overview[]

A curious fish, the Groper is very susceptible to spearfishing. The vulnerability of the fish has led it to be declared as a protected species in all States (Groper may still be captured by line - a maximum of 2 in NSW). The smaller female Groper is reddish brown in colour, while the larger males, who start of life as a female, are blue.
